🦓 The Zebra’s Stripe Counting Day
🦓 The Zebra’s Stripe Counting Day
Ziggy the zebra looked in the mirror. “How many stripes do I have?” he wondered. He started counting. “One, two, three, four…” A monkey came by. “What are you doing?” asked the monkey. “I am counting my stripes,” said Ziggy. “Fun!” said the monkey. After ten minutes, Ziggy said, “Thirty-two, thirty-three, thirty-four…” The monkey was bored. After twenty minutes, Ziggy said, “Sixty-eight, sixty-nine…” The monkey fell asleep. Ziggy kept counting. Then a fly landed on Ziggy’s back. Ziggy moved. “Oh no!” he cried. “I lost my place!” The monkey woke up. “Start again,” said the monkey. Ziggy looked sad. Then the monkey gave him a calculator. Ziggy looked at it. “How does this count stripes?” The monkey shrugged. “I don’t know, but adults use calculators when numbers are scary.” Ziggy smiled. He pressed buttons and said, “I have many stripes.” The monkey clapped. “Excellent math!”
