Danny the donkey loved jokes. One day, Rabbit told him a joke. “Why did the banana go to school?” Danny said, “I don’t know.” Rabbit said, “Because it wanted to be a smart banana!” Danny laughed. “HEE-HAW! HEE-HAW! HEE-HAW!” The birds flew out of the trees. The sheep dropped their grass. The farmer spilled his tea. Rabbit covered his ears. “Danny, please laugh quietly.” Danny nodded. Rabbit told another joke. “Why did the cookie cry?” Danny whispered, “Why?” Rabbit said, “Because its mother was a wafer too long.” Danny tried to laugh quietly. “hee-haw.” Rabbit smiled. Then Danny could not stop himself. “HEE-HAW!” A cow jumped. The farmer shouted, “Not again!” Danny felt sorry. “I am trying,” he said. Rabbit said, “Maybe your quiet laugh is still loud.” Danny smiled. “That means my happiness is very big.” Rabbit nodded. “Yes. Very, very big.”
